Movie producer Steven Spielberg has stated that if TV star and entertainer Oprah Winfrey chooses to challenge President Donald Trump in 2020, he will definitely support her.
“I think Oprah Winfrey would make an absolutely brilliant president,” the Oscar-winning executive stated while talking with The Guardian recently.
Spielberg was recently in the UK to speak about his film, The Post, which is about the liberal daily paper investigating the Pentagon Papers many years ago.
“If she declares, I will back her,” Speilberg stated.
Spielberg additionally acknowledged Winfrey for her “empathy.”
“She is crackerjack on the money on women’s issues and I call her the ambassador of empathy,”stated Spielberg, who worked with Winfrey in 1985’s The Color Purple.
“I think we need a mindful, empathetic human being in the White House who understands people and puts people ahead of their own ideas of power and self-aggrandizement – and I think Oprah has already proved her capacity for selflessness,” he stated.
Hollywood star Meryl Streep, who acts in The Post, also supported Winfrey’s potential presidential run talking in front of the press in London, as indicated by the Guardian.
“Whether she is leading us to the candidate we need or whether she herself is a candidate, she sets the bar pretty high on campaign talk,” Streep stated.
